What we collect when you use emit, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have.
Last updated September 29, 2026
The short version. We collect what we need to run emit and bill you for it. Your jobs are yours: we process them only to run the service. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers, and we use no analytics or advertising trackers.
1. Who we are
emit (emit.run) is a service operated by Pixel Dev LLC, Portland, Oregon, USA (“we”, “us”); you can reach us at support@emit.run. For the account and billing information described here, we decide how it is used (we are the “controller”). For customer data (your jobs), we act on your behalf and on your instructions, as your “processor”: what is in your jobs, and who it is about, is up to you. Our Terms of Service describe the service.
2. What we collect
- Account information. Your email address, when you created your account and last signed in, your organisations’ names, their members and roles, and the email addresses of people you invite. If someone invites you, we hold your email address to send the invitation, before you have an account.
- Sign-in codes and attempts. When you sign in we email you a code of eight letters and digits that works once, for 10 minutes, and can be tried at most 50 times. We never store the code itself, only a keyed fingerprint of it, and we delete that after a day. To stop guessing and flooding, we also count sign-in codes asked for and wrong guesses by the network address they come from, together with the email address they are for; those counts are deleted after a day.
- Billing information. Stripe and Link take your payment details directly; we never see or store your full card number. We give Stripe your email address and your organisation’s name, and we keep Stripe’s reference to your subscription. The Billing page shows your card’s brand, last four digits and expiry, read from Stripe.
- Usage. How many jobs you create, how much storage and data transfer you use, and how long your nodes run: what we need to bill you and to enforce plan limits.
- Customer data. The jobs and workflow runs you create, with their payloads, results, progress, logs and names, and the cluster and space settings you choose.
- Technical information. Our servers process your IP address and the details of each request to route it, to limit abuse, and to find and fix problems.
3. How we use it, and why the law lets us
We use this information to provide emit: to sign you in, run your clusters, show your jobs in the dashboard, bill you, enforce plan limits, keep the service secure, and answer you when you contact us. We send emails about your account and the service, such as sign-in codes, invitations, a welcome message, cluster updates and billing notices. We do not send marketing email today; if we start, you will be able to opt out.
Where the law asks us to name a basis for each use, such as under the GDPR, ours are: performing our contract with you (signing you in, running your clusters, billing); our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working, and in telling you about it (abuse limits, technical information, service emails); our legal obligations (billing records for tax); and, if we ever send marketing email, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Your customer data
We process customer data only to run the service for you. People at emit look at it only when needed to operate, secure or support the service (for example, when you ask us to investigate a problem), or when the law requires it. We do not use it to train AI models.
5. We don’t sell or share your data
We do not sell personal information or customer data, and we do not share either with advertisers or data brokers, or for targeted advertising. We share information only with the service providers below, who work for us under contract to run emit, or when the law requires it (for example, a valid court order, which we will tell you about unless the law forbids it). If emit is ever sold or merged, this policy continues to apply to your information, and we will tell you before that changes.
6. Service providers
- Amazon Web Services: hosts emit.run and your clusters, and stores your clusters’ data and archives, in the US East (N. Virginia) region, United States.
- PlanetScale: hosts our database of accounts, organisations, clusters and billing records, in the United States.
- Stripe, including Link: takes payments and acts as the merchant of record for paid plans.
- Resend: delivers our emails, including sign-in codes.
- Cloudflare: provides DNS for emit.run. Your traffic to emit does not pass through Cloudflare.
Our pages also load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when it fetches them.
7. Where your data is kept
We store and process data in the United States. If you use emit from elsewhere, your information is transferred to the United States, which may not protect personal information the way the law where you live does. Where that law requires safeguards for the transfer, such as for transfers from the EU or the UK, we rely on those our providers offer under their contracts with us, such as the EU’s standard contractual clauses.
8. How long we keep it
- Account information: while your account exists. When you delete your account, we remove it within 30 days, except billing records and what is said below about deleted clusters.
- Customer data: your jobs, with their results and logs, stay in your cluster for as long as the cluster exists.
- A deleted Dedicated cluster: its nodes and their disks are removed right away. Its archive is kept for 48 hours, so we can restore it if the deletion was a mistake, and is then deleted.
- A deleted Serverless cluster: its jobs can no longer be read through the service from the moment it is deleted. Serverless clusters share storage, so copies can remain in that storage for a while afterwards; they are not readable through the service and are not used for anything.
- Sign-in codes and attempt counts: a day.
- Billing records: as long as the law requires us to keep them for tax and accounting.
9. Cookies and storage in your browser
We use one cookie: a signed session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is needed for the dashboard to work, lasts up to 30 days, and is renewed when your session changes. Our documentation also remembers which code tab you last picked, in your browser’s local storage. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not track you across other sites, so a “Do Not Track” signal changes nothing.
10. Your choices and rights
You can see and change your organisations, members and clusters in the dashboard, and delete clusters there at any time. Your jobs are yours to read and export through the API at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive it in a portable form, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these, email support@emit.run from the address you sign in with; we will answer within the time the law sets, and usually within a month. We will not treat you differently for using them. If your personal information is in another customer’s jobs, that customer decides how it is used, and we will pass your request to them where we can.
11. Security
Connections to emit.run and to your clusters are encrypted with TLS. Sign-in needs no password, and API tokens can be revoked at any time. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run emit. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you without undue delay.
12. Children
emit is a service for developers and businesses, not for children. You must be at least 18 to use it, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, email support@emit.run and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a significant way, we will email your organisation’s owners before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
